Last night, i was trying to configure how to update the site. It was a forum. It prompted me to click the link and everything will be installed in minutes. Unfortunately, the patch didn't worked out since it says that one of the files were not writable. WTF.
Actually, I've been trying to do this for weeks. I've been googling all night to see what I can do since that was nozhie's suggestion. Anyway, I did saw this help page in an online community and I thought this is what I'm looking for.
Thinking that it will be so easy, I simply followed the steps even if I'm not really sure if it will be a success. My intuition told me that I should have a backup of the files, a bit late on my decision i still copy the files using Filezilla (I really don't know what I'm doing. I'm not good with this kind of work.)
I went on with the copying and posting of the codes. Every file saved, I try to check the effect on the site. First error on topics, and the next best thing that happend, the site were all messed up! OMG!
A bit pissed but still smiling (I was talking to one of my online friend who is also a member of the forum, I was telling him that I just deleted the whole forum,) I deleted the whole forum folder. This and that happened and unfortunately, my backup files were incomplete. Really. Still I upload it to the host and prayed that the forum will be back.
Good Lord is really great! The forum is back as well as the members, the topics but not the files I've installed earlier. From 11pm till 4am today, I was like a geek wannabe that ruined a site and learned my lessons.
Next time, I should always keep a complete backup. Read the directions well. And sometimes, I really need to do it on my own.
Thanks kuya sony for cheering me up while the forum's down hehehe
